Lanternfly Monitoring

Old Dry Road Farm registered with the PA Department of Agriculture to help monitor the spread of the Lanternfly by placing sticky bands on Tree-of-Heaven (Ailanthus altissima) trees that are present on the land that we manage.

The sticky bands were changed every two weeks starting May 1, through August this year and an online report of the findings was made to the Department of Agriculture each time the bands were changed. There were no lanternfly instars (developmental stages between moults) captured on the sticky bands.

We have registered with the PA Department of Agriculture’s 2018 program to participate in the removal of the host tree (Ailanthus altissima).
